Desktop POS & CRDT Backend

Desktop POS & CRDT Backend is a Dilijent Systems systems engineering project: a point-of-sale that installs in one step with no server, plus the real-time collaboration backend behind it.

The challenge

Shop-floor software has to work where there is no reliable server and no reliable internet, and it has to install without a technician. Licence checking has to hold up offline, which rules out the usual call-home check. Separately, any real-time multi-user feature has to survive several people editing the same thing at once, and a lock-based design loses edits instead.

Our solution

• An Electron and React desktop POS with an embedded PocketBase database, so a single installer stands alone with no server to host
• USB ESC/POS thermal printing from the desktop app, so it works with standard receipt printers
• An offline, machine-bound licence validated in the application main process, where it cannot be disabled from the interface
• A real-time collaboration backend built on Yjs CRDTs over Socket.io and Redis, so concurrent edits merge instead of conflicting
• Multi-tenant Docker sandboxes and process isolation as the deployment model
• CI/CD through GitHub Actions with 41 automated tests guarding every release
